Creating Profiles

This guide explains the three things you'll need in place to open your account and start buying or selling NFTs on Rxgreenthumb and or ScribbleNFT.

Digital Currency

1) Digital Currency (ETH) You can get ETH, the digital currency that fuels transactions on the Ethereum blockchain, from a digital currency exchange like Coinbase. You will need ETH to "mint" an NFT, purchase an NFT, and for gas fees to complete transactions. Gas fees are a bit of a tricky concept, but we simplify the basics here. If you’re interested in the technical details of gas, read Jeff Coleman’s Stack Exchange post.

Now that you have ETH, let's get a crypto wallet.

2) Crypto Wallet A crypto wallet, such as MetaMask, stores your ETH and processes transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. A unique wallet address will be generated and you will use this address to complete transactions.

All transactions connected to your wallet address can be found on It's always a good idea to check Etherscan after completing each transaction.

Why do you need a wallet before buying and selling on ScribbleNFT?

ScribbleNFT itself is another tool you use to interact with the blockchain. We never take possession of your assets or store your NFTs. Instead, we provide a system for peer to peer exchanges. Since you’ll be using ScribbleNFT to interact directly with others on the blockchain, you’ll need a wallet to help you turn your actions in the browser into transactions on the blockchain. Now that you have a crypto wallet installed, you can connect your wallet address to ScribbleNFT.

3) ScribbleNFT Let's connect your wallet to ScribbleNFT, edit your profile, and begin interacting in the space. When you arrive to , head to the top right profile icon, select "My Profile".

Your account will default to "Unnamed", showing only your wallet address below. To personalize your account, select the gear icon on the right side of the screen. You will receive an extra security prompt, select "Sign" and you can begin updating your profile.

Now you can customize your profile, including: username, bio, and email address. Your profile photo and cover banner can be customized on your account as well.

You're all set

Now you're all set! If you ever have trouble viewing your items, make sure your wallet is connected correctly. ScribbleNFT is a window into your wallet address, showing all the cool NFTs inside. ScribbleNFT doesn't store your digital assets, it's only a fun place to buy, sell, create, and trade NFTs.

What is a Crypto Wallet? What is a Crypto Wallet?

A crypto wallet is an application or hardware device that allows individuals to store and transfer digital assets like cryptocurrencies and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). This guide breaks down the crypto wallet basics that you'll need to know before creating and trading items on ScribbleNFT.

How do crypto wallets work?

When you download a crypto wallet, you take control of two 42-character keys; a public key, known as your wallet address, and a private key. You can think of your public key as your shareable bank account info, so copy and paste it in when people ask for your address. Your private key works like a password and should remain private.

Crypto wallets and OpenSea

Decentralized applications, or 'Dapps' as many like to call them, work differently from traditional websites like eBay. When you purchase an item on OpenSea, the funds go straight from your crypto wallet to the seller's wallet. There's no company in the middle holding the goods while the transaction goes through.

If you've heard OpenSea described as ‘decentralized’ or ‘peer-to-peer’, that's the context!

Security: Keeping your funds safe

Understanding risk is key to successfully navigating the brave new world of crypto and NFTs. The fact that OpenSea never stores your funds or assets means that we can’t retrieve them if you lose access to your wallet or it’s compromised.

If you forget your password, you can get access to your wallet via your seed phrase, a series of words that accompany all wallet addresses. It’s good practice to write down and safely store your seed phrase in multiple places when you first download your wallet, so if you can't find it, search online for info or reach out to your wallet provider before buying NFTs or storing digital currencies.
